Rehearsals resume after the summer break on Monday 5th September.
The following week on the 12th will be the A.G.M. after the rehearsal and it would be helpful if people attended to express any views and ideas – this is the choir’s opportunity to support the committee and Donna too. If you would like to join the committee please ask any of the existing committee members, likewise if you would like to be nominated for a role.
On 19th September the first installment of £25 is due. The annual subscription remains the same again.
A pianist is still hoped for and the advertisement is on the website on the right. New posters are currently at the printers on which a request for a pianist is also added.
Hope you had a brilliant summer and looking forward to seeing you all and new members on Monday.
The Whitchurch Herald this week used a staff photo of us singing at the Blackberry Fair on Saturday. From all the many different acts and displays on the day isn’t it good that we were chosen.
Philip Walker was also out and about with his camera.
Other choristers, friends and family, people in the crowd and at least one usually highly critical husband were complimentary about our performance and apparently… there was disappointment that we only did one slot. Not bad for our debut at this event.
During Monday’s rehearsal we gave time to learning more of the Beach Boys songs, Good Vibrations and God Only Knows, and then Donna introduced us to the very beautiful Ave verum Corpus. If you read the notes at the bottom of the score you’ll see Mozart wrote it when visiting his wife who was ‘taking the waters’ at the time in a little spa town. I wonder what he would think about our performances of it in the oldest little market town in Shropshire.
The choir has some connection to the Shropshire M. E. Group and they are holding a coffee morning on 16th October in the Civic Centre – there will be a raffle, tombola and book signing by local author Katie Flynn who is the new patron of this charity and she also has M. E. It would be lovely to see any of you there.
We have been invited to perform at the next ‘Relay for Life’ event (Cancer Research U.K.) in July next year and the committee has now confirmed the booking. We will be singing on the morning of Saturday 2nd July 2016 at the Rugby Ground.

First rehearsal when we resume in September will be on the 7th.
After the next one on the 14th choir members are invited to stay behind for the A.G.M.
First of four instalments of £25 for annual subscription due on 21st September
We had the chance to run through the whole of our Rogers & Hammerstein medley of songs quite a few times, focussing on those parts where the piano accompaniment is a little tricky.
Rehearsal as usual next Monday evening, 10th November, with an extra pre-concert rehearsal in the church on Thursday 13th at 7pm.
Everyone to wear choir uniform and it’s anticipated that we will be sitting in the body of the church and will stand up when it’s our turn to perform.
There are a lot of Christmas carol performances coming up, seven so far, and an invitation to sing at Dorne and Dave’s renewal of marriage vows on 23rd November at Little Budworth Church.
Donna is going to select who sings at each of the carol concerts so that the audience at some of the venues will not feel overwhelmed.
