Today, Monday 15th December, as during rehearsal last Monday, 8th December, we finely tuned our carol and seasonal songs repertoire for our next few performances – we have six more to go following on from Marbury village party which was our first gig on the 6th and yesterday, fund raising for The Beechtree Community Centre at Sainsbury’s.
Donna posed a puzzle for us – from the photographs taken by the Sainsbury’s P.R person as posted below, whom might we think she has named ‘Chorister of the year’? My guess is that it may be a certain young man who keeps his eyes on our Musical Director when performing and often looks cheerful, or… might it be a certain glamorous alto who also pays attention to our Musical Director? See what you think –
We don’t know yet how much we raised in donations but we noticed people being generous and appreciative of our efforts. In particular some younger members of the audience really thought we ‘rocked’, a couple being so transfixed they were reluctant to be moved on by their parents. It was a lovely atmosphere and we managed to make our presence heard even above the piped, looped musak the store was unable to stop.
After rehearsal we enjoyed delicious mince pies made by Sue and agreed that our own seasonal celebration would be on Monday 19th January at The Old Mill. Rehearsals start again on Monday 5th January (when subs are due again) and we will be learning Faure’s Requiem. Library copies are available from Donna which need to be signed for and kept safe as they are worth £18 each.
